Ajman loses to Shabab Al Ahli with a three-nil defeat in the opening match of the Adnoc Pro League.
Ajman suffered a three-goal deficit in the beginning of the new football season, in a match held today at Rashid bin Saeed Stadium.
Shabab Al Ahli took control in the first half with two goals despite being a man down since the 20th minute. Harib Abdullah Suhail scored the opening goal in the 13th minute with a long-range shot past Mohammed Yousuf. It marked Suhail's first goal from outside the penalty area in the professional league.
In the second minute of stoppage time in the first half, Aziz Ganiev's powerful shot deflected off defender Nader Qandri, granting the Knights a second goal through friendly fire.
Ajman attempted to capitalize on the visitor's numerical disadvantage in the second half and came close to narrowing the gap in the 60th minute, but Shabab Al Ahli's goalkeeper, Majed Nasser, made a remarkable save from Rocky Marsiano's powerful header.
In the 76th minute, substitute Igor Jesus extended the lead to three goals with a penalty kick, awarded to his teammate Harib Abdullah Suhail. This made it more difficult for the home team to make a comeback in the scoreline.
